Tata Motors is going all guns blazing when it comes to electric mobility. Currently, the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors aims to cement its place in the future as well. The company is planning to come out with a number of EV offerings in the coming years.

Avinya Electric Concept is aimed at showcasing flexibility and versatility of Tata Motors’ new electric skateboard which is understood to have been born out of the same philosophy as the Audi Urbansphere. Avinya has IN at its center – IN standing for India. It has been designed from inside out with a focus on its interior. The vehicle’s exterior design is crossover-ish in nature with a blend of SUV and MPV body styles.

FUTURE INNOVATIVE

Looking at the Tata Avinya, it is clear that it is a purpose-built EV in terms of proportions and dimensions. Avinya is Tata’s Gen-3 EV architecture, which is based around the battery and electric motors, allowing the carmaker to push the wheels to far corners and maximize cabin space.

Flexible seats

On the design front, the Avinya has a very different and minimalistic look, with extremely short front and rear overhangs which only help in prolonging the longer wheelbase. Up front, there is a full width LED light bar that has been designed to resemble an elongated ‘T’ logo with a distinctively lit solid grille section, slim headlight and Smart Style front splitter.

Back

Petrol-powered iterations of both SUVs are based on the OMEGA Arc platform that has been derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. This platform is extremely difficult to electrify and hence we have not seen a fully electric Land Rover built on this platform yet. Moreover, the new skateboard could be shared with JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) as part of a collaboration between the parent company and the British brand.

New Tata Motors Logo for EV lineup

Further, it has also come to light that with Avinya electric concept, the company has unveiled a new logo for Tata Motors’ electric car range. The upcoming electric cars will come out of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEML), the EV division of the brand that was recently set up. The new Tata logo is an illuminated ‘T’ that stretches across the rear of the car.

A TIMELESS DESIGN:

Originally inspired by a catamaran, the AVINYA concept is a non-compromising approach to electric mobility. With a new silhouette, the concept is a blend of the best of the world – a product that combines the essence of a premium hatch with the luxury and versatility of an SUV and the spaciousness and functionality of an MPV – all put together Lets create something new and beautiful. A significant highlight is the new identity at the front and rear of the vehicle. This new identity as a part of DRL is a subtle gesture of our commitment to enhancing the quality of life and a significant step in the evolution of EVs. It is also manifesto and emphasizes the horizon and infinite possibilities that Gen 3 electrification will offer. Gliding on the sides, a ‘butterfly’ meets the door, which with open arms welcomes you into the spacious interior leading into a square that certainly makes its occupants feel at ease.

The AVINYA concept focuses on a human-centered design and promises a sensory journey of its own. From the sky dome, which enhances the overall feeling of space and natural light, to the functional console-inspired steering wheel, to the voice activated system for a deep interface for all its passengers, to the sustainable materials being used, which products communicates its ethos. And finally the final touch of the aroma diffuser – which envelops you in a calm and soothing environment.

A PURE EV AT ITS CORE:

The AVINYA concept stands for empathetic mobility, a machine that is engineered to be smart, spacious, sustainable yet techy. The agile and robust Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture offers this concept with a flexible design while boasting of next generation connectivity.

This architecture is built with the use of next-gen materials, efficient electronic componentry and proprietary energy management strategies & algorithms for efficiency management. Use of light-weight materials, and optimized structure for an EV only powertrain with enabled appropriate stiffness, helps minimize the overall mass, leading to good weight management. Furthermore, the battery used will support an ultra-fast charge capability, in line with the infrastructure evolution, pumping a minimum 500 kms range in under 30 minutes. The overall philosophy for enhanced range would be ‘Minimize- Maximize – Optimize’.
